| The Advanced Data Management and Analysis Branch supports
the Earth and Space Science Communities by providing a wide range of high-end
data systems solutions in response to technical requirements. Branch personnel
partner with flight projects, principal investigators, other GSFC Directorates,
universities, other NASA and government organizations and commercial enterprises
to develop systems that address data display, data analysis, data visualization,
data archiving and mass storage. The Branch also provides support for algorithm
development, science data analysis programming, data mining, data retrieval,
fusion and dissemination, scientific mission proposal development and support
for large and small scale software system configuration, sizing, and development
methodologies utilizing recognized techniques and scientific data format
standards (i.e., CDF, FITS, HDF, etc.). Branch personnel utilize state-of-the-art technologies, existing COTS/GOTS products, cost-saving strategies and current design and development methodologies to provide system engineering, system planning and conceptualization, requirements analysis, trade-off studies, consulting, prototyping, design, development, verification and mission-life sustaining engineering for its products. The Branch operates in a customer focused manner, maintaining close relationships with internal and external organizations to collaborate, resolve problems, respond to requests and identify new areas of support. When appropriate, it takes an active role in outreach activities and assists in transferring and/or commercializing technologies to industry, other government agencies and academia. The Branch encourages personal and technical growth in its personnel through training, participation in workshops and conferences, regular examination of current trade journals and exchange of technical information with colleagues. |
